Over 2,000 works are catalogued, representing real people, imagined persons and allegorical subjects, however, the catalogue only includes cariactures intended to be framed or reproduced in books or prints. This study excludes juvenalia (excepting a few representative examples), marginalia, sketchbooks, letters and manuscripts.
