The catalogue raisonné is organized chronologically, although the first paintings listed do not always reflect the actual order of creation. Not wanting to modify the system, the numbers were kept in original numerical order and the exact chronology is indicated in a general table. The publication also includes a filmography and an index of paintings in public collections.
