Previous work on the artist include a loan exhibition at the J.B. Speed Museum in 1928. Also a subject list was prepared by the artist's grandson R. Jouett Menefee, but incomplete at his dealth in 1893; the present volume states that many present owners could not be traced, so ownership was left as given on that list.
