This is the translation of the original German language edition published by Residenz Verlag, Salzburg, 1972. A revised edition is currently in preparation by the Egon Schiele Documentation Centre at the Leopold Museum. In addition to the introductory texts on Schiele's life and work, the catalogue includes separate discussions of Schiele's patrons, friends and opponents, and the critical reception of his work.
