This project was undertaken in collaboration with the Bosch Research and Conservation Project, and was published on the 500th anniversary of the artist's death. The catalogue is the result of extensive new research into the artist's iconography and stylistic development, and every work attributed to Bosch underwent technical analysis. Works were examined using new scientific imaging technologies, including macrophotography and spectral imaging. N.B., this catalogue raisonné was issued in concurrant Dutch, German, and French language editions, publishers vary. A companion volume "Hieronymus Bosch, Painter and Draughtsman: Technical Studies," detailing the conservation and technical examination of the works, was also published in conjunction with the catalogue.
