The catalogue raisonné covers works by all three de Gheyns, but the major portion covers over 1000 works by Jacques de Gheyn II, grouped by subject matter. The plates volume is presented in chronological order (and includes the addenda). The reader is advised to carefully read the author's Explanatory Note to fully understand how "this somewhat complicated book" is organized. The critical apparatus has good, sometimes extensive, comments, and there are numerous references to sales, old collections and the literature.
