The author refers to his study as a monograph, but it does contain a "catalogue de l'oeuvre", including authentic paintings as well as a large number of rejected works. The catalogue raisonné is divided into the following categories: accepted works; works cited in contemporary sources; those of uncertain attribution; examples by followers or members of the artist's circle; and rejected works. The drawings are listed in chronological order when possible, otherwise they are arranged by theme.
