This is the catalogue of an exhibition held at John Mitchell & Son, with an illustrated checklist of Ibbetson's paintings. Christopher Wright compiled the reference materials and wrote the preface to the catalogue raisonné. The present catalogue lists oil paintings by or attributed to Ibbetson housed in public collections in the United Kingdom. The authors state that the current checklist of works is meant as a preliminary compilation for Mitchell's forthcoming catalogue raisonné of the complete works (not published to date).
