The present publication is based on the author's 1994 doctoral thesis. Introductory material includes biographies of the respective artists, and a critical discussion of their works. Documents cover iconography, a family tree and a chronology. The appendices include a discussion of the artists' critical fortunes, a bibliography and several indices.
