The catalogue was reprinted in 1971 (Westport, CT: Greenwood Press). The current publication was originally presented as the author's doctoral thesis at Harvard University in 1940. The catalogue is divided into three parts: the first two dealing with discussions of Parmigianino's religious and mythological paintings, portraits, and artistic milieu. The catalogue raisonné lists authentic works, attributed paintings, and lost works. Preparatory drawings are listed in an addendum to the catalogue.
