This is the translation of the author's doctoral thesis, "Schilder Pietro della Vecchia en de erfenis van de renaissance in Venetië," presented at the Universiteit van Amsterdam in 1986. In addition to the catalogue raisonné, the publication includes a foreword and biography, plus several sections considering the artist's oeuvre and career.
