Volume 1 includes texts on Rubens as an antiquarian, Rubens and Ancient Portraiture, and Rubens and the Sculpture Collections of Rome. The Appendices include: Rubens' Roman itinerary; descriptions of vases, gems and cameos belonging to Rubens; an inventory of the Duke of Buckingham's Estate; and a catalogue of Albert Rubens' gem collection.
Vol. 2 contains the catalogue raisonné, which is divided into three sections: Three-dimensional Models (Nos. 1-131), Two-dimensional Models (Nos. 132-200), and Copies after the 'Illustrium Imagines' (Theodoor Galle's drawings after antique works) (Nos. 201-222).
