The publication includes introductory essays on the construction of the Jesuit Church; the fire of 1718 and the work of the copyists; a description of the cycle; and a discussion of the iconography of the ceiling program. The Appendices contain the contract between Rubens and the head of the Jesuit Church for the ceiling painting, and extracts from the Jesuit Church's account book.
