The catalogue raisonné is divided into separate catalogues of the portraits, miniatures, and subject paintings. The authors note that the catalogue is based on Sully's original register of works, but includes works omitted from the artist's list. The Appendix contains excerpts from the artist's correspondence, his passport and writings. The publication also includes an index of owners of portraits by Sully. The catalogue was reprinted (NY: Kennedy Graphics) in 1970.
