The author Henry S. Drinker was the artist's nephew, who wrote this in celebration of the artist's 100th birthday as well as the 150th anniversary of the Pennsylvania Academy, where Beaux studied and taught. Included is a transcript of Beaux's lecture on portraiture, delivered at Simmons College on May 14, 1907.
