Janson used the notes and photographs that had been left unpublished at the time of Lányi's death as the starting basis for his authoritative study. There have been later reprintings of this work, starting with a revised edition published in 1963. The publication includes a chapter on 14 rejected attributions. Each entry cites the documentary sources pertaining to the work, and excerpts from contemporary literary references.
