The introductory essays include a general outline of painting in the Marches; the artist's society and familial environment, and a discussion of Pagai's life and stylistic development. This is followed by the chronological catalogue raisonné. The catalogue first lists authentic works, followed by attributed examples, works of problematical nature, workshop pieces, uncertain attributions (due to lack of critical literature), and lost works. Finally, there is also a list of rejected attributions.
